Our Story

JMU Connection

Bernie and Christina met in 1992 when Bernie was in the fraternity, Chi Phi, and Christina had been selected as a "little sister". Bernie took one for the team, and was elected as the "Little Sister Pledge Master". Tough job to get the ladies to make $ to throw a party ;)

A few years after both had graduated, fate would have them meet up again and they went on several dates. While there was a connection, Christina was determined to move back to LA, and spend time in the creative scene, while Bernie was wanting to pursue his career in insurance and build a family. They went their separate ways.

While Christina explored the design and art world, Bernie met his wife, Andrea, and created a life with Andrea and her young children, Jessica & Tyler. Shortly there after, they had their twins, Richie & Madison. Andrea sadly passed away in 2018. She is greatly missed by the Dombrowski family, and we honor her memory.

Later that year, Christina was back in the Ashburn/Leesburg area to visit family for the holidays, and Bernie reached out when he saw she was in town. They spent time together, but knew there was going to be healing time for Bernie, and a 3000 mile distance between them. They continued to communicate, travelled across country, and fell in love...

Their relationship grew, and Christina felt the need to be closer to her parents and siblings in Virginia as well as to Bernie. Her father had been battling Parkinson's disease, and she wanted to be near him. She moved back in August of 2019, and created a new life for herself. Bernie & Christina continued dating, and decided they wanted to spend the rest of their life together!

It's definitely been a journey of "for better or worse, in sickness and in health", but they are committed to their relationship, bringing their families together, and living happily ever after!

We're so happy to have our guests to be a part of our big day, and to continue our love story.
